TELKOM & TelkomMetra Embarked on a Joint Venture with Telstra

TELKOM finally realized an agreement to establish a joint venture (JV) company with an Australian telecommunications operator, Telstra Corporation Limited. This Joint Venture company provides Network & Application Services (NAS) for enterprise customers and multinational companies, particularly Australian companies operating in Indonesia.

This JV company was formalized on August 29, 2014 in Sydney, Australia, through the signing of an agreement by TELKOM Group’s CEO, Mr. Arief Yahya and Telstra’s CEO, Mr. David Thodey. Also present at this ceremony were TELKOM’s Director of Innovation & Strategic Portfolio, Mr. Indra Utoyo, TelkomMetra’s President Director, Mr. Teguh Wahyono, and telkomsigma’s Director of Business Solution also serving as the Chairman of the Task Force of the JV, Mr. Otto Benny Hantoro.

Telstra’s success in transforming the business, competency in NAS business, and Telstra’s experience in the provision of ICT services in more than 800 companies in Australia became the main reason for TELKOM and TelkomMetra Group to collaborate with Telstra, Mr. Arief Yahya explained. While for Telstra, this Joint Venture is a strategic step for Telstra to enter the Asian market, especially Indonesia in cooperation with TELKOM which is the largest IMES provider in Indonesia.

Following up the signing of the JV, on September 15 – 19, 2014 the JV Post-Signing was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta and attended by all members of the NAS JV Establishment Task Force Team, the Telstra Team and also representatives (Task Force Counterpart) from TELKOM, TelkomMetra, telkomsigma, Infomedia, PINs and Telin. This JV Post-Signing Workshop was aimed at preparing the establishment of the JV company at the end of October 2014, revising the High Level Implementation Plan made in previous workshops in Melbourne, and discussing the action plan between streams.

Strategic cooperation with Telstra is one of the efforts of TELKOM Group to implement one of its main programs, namely the International Expansion, and make TELKOM Group a leading global player.
